Abu Dawud 23 (Book 1, Hadith 23)

Narrated by Hafs ibn ‘Umar and Muslim ibn Ibrahim, who said: Shu’bah narrated to us, and Musaddad narrated to us, and Abu Awana (this is the wording of Hafs) narrated to us, from Sulayman, from Abu Wa’il, from Hudhayfah, who said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) visited a people in Subaat, and he urinated standing, then he called for water and wiped over his ankles.” Abu Dawood said: Musaddad said: He (Hudhayfah) said, “So I went away, then he called me until I was at his heels.”

حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، وَمُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، – وَهَذَا لَفْظُ حَفْصٍ – عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ، قَالَ أَتَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم سُبَاطَةَ قَوْمٍ فَبَالَ قَائِمًا ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ قَالَ فَذَهَبْتُ أَتَبَاعَدُ فَدَعَانِي حَتَّى كُنْتُ عِنْدَ عَقِبِهِ ‏.‏
