Narrated by Muhammad ibn Adam ibn Sulaiman al-Mississi, who reported from Ibn Abi Zaidah, who said that Abu Ayyub, meaning the African, narrated to me from Aasim, from al-Musayyab ibn Rafi’, from Ma’bad, from Harithah ibn Wahb al-Khuza’i, who said: Hafsah, the wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to use his right hand for his food, drink, and clothing, and his left hand for other matters.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ آدَمَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو أَيُّوبَ، – يَعْنِي الإِفْرِيقِيَّ – عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، وَمَعْبَدٍ، عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ وَهْبٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي حَفْصَةُ، زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَجْعَلُ يَمِينَهُ لِطَعَامِهِ وَشَرَابِهِ وَثِيَابِهِ وَيَجْعَلُ شِمَالَهُ لِمَا سِوَى ذَلِكَ .
