“Musaad bin Musarhad informed us; Sufyan narrated to us, from Al-Zuhri, from Ata’ bin Yazid al-Laythi, from Abu Ayyub, who said in a narration: ‘When you go to relieve yourselves, do not face the Qiblah with your excrement or urine. Instead, face east or west.’ We reached the Sham (Syria), and we found toilets built facing the Qiblah. So, we used to turn away from them and seek forgiveness from Allah.”
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، رِوَايَةً قَالَ “ إِذَا أَتَيْتُمُ الْغَائِطَ فَلاَ تَسْتَقْبِلُوا الْقِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ وَلاَ بَوْلٍ وَلَكِنْ شَرِّقُوا أَوْ غَرِّبُوا ” . فَقَدِمْنَا الشَّامَ فَوَجَدْنَا مَرَاحِيضَ قَدْ بُنِيَتْ قِبَلَ الْقِبْلَةِ فَكُنَّا نَنْحَرِفُ عَنْهَا وَنَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ .
