“Narrated to us Qabeesah ibn Uqbah, he said: Narrated to us Sufyan, from Al-A’mash, from Abdullah ibn Murrah, from Masruq, from Abdullah ibn Amr, that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: ‘Four traits, whoever possesses them is a pure hypocrite, and whoever possesses any one of them has an element of hypocrisy until he abandons it: When he is entrusted, he betrays; when he speaks, he lies; when he makes a covenant, he breaks it, and when he disputes, he resorts to foul language.’ Shu’bah narrated it from Al-A’mash.“
حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ “ أَرْبَعٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ كَانَ مُنَافِقًا خَالِصًا، وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا إِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ وَإِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا عَاهَدَ غَدَرَ، وَإِذَا خَاصَمَ فَجَرَ ”. تَابَعَهُ شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ.
