Abu Dawud 26 (Book 1, Hadith 26)

Narrated by Ishaq ibn Suwaid al-Ramli, and Abu Hafs Umar ibn al-Khattab, whose narration is most complete, that Sa’id ibn al-Hakam informed them, he said: Nafi’ ibn Yazid informed me, who was informed by Haywah ibn Shurayh, that Abu Sa’id al-Himyari reported from Mu’adh ibn Jabal, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “Beware of the three cursed things: relieving oneself in places where people walk, in the pathways, and in the shade.”

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُوَيْدٍ الرَّمْلِيُّ، وَعُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ أَبُو حَفْصٍ، وَحَدِيثُهُ، أَتَمُّ أَنَّ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ، حَدَّثَهُمْ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا نَافِعُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، حَدَّثَنِي حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْحِمْيَرِيَّ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ “‏ اتَّقُوا الْمَلاَعِنَ الثَّلاَثَ الْبَرَازَ فِي الْمَوَارِدِ وَقَارِعَةِ الطَّرِيقِ وَالظِّلِّ ‏”‏ ‏.‏
